Dr. Corry and Justin Key, who opened Southwind Animal Hospital a year ago in Russellville, spoke to the council about changing the city’s ordinance regarding American registered pit bull terriers.
They agreed that there is a problem with dogs in and around Russellville, but other breeds have been involved in biting incidents, not just pit bulls. The city’s ban on pit bulls hasn’t made a difference in the amount of incidents, DR. CORRY KEY said.
Justin Key added some dogs have no business being euthanized under the current ordinance, and the city could host an annual dog show during the next five years that would bring in revenue from dog owners throughout the country. They said they would address the council at its August meeting about their plans to change the ordinance.
